The Urban Professionals Network

Our History

The Urban Professionals Network came into existence in the fall of 2005. This organization came from the vision of President & Founder - Jason V. Watts. With the backing of the entire Watts family; John Watts, Sr. Min. Sandra Watts, Sharnell Watts, John Watts Jr. Dion & Valerie Watts, and Samuel Watts - this organization was born for the betterment of Connecticut. As a family unit, we utilized our personal networks and launched our inaugural UPN " Meet & Greet " . This event was held at the Oracle Lounge in Downtown New Haven. We had over 100 attendees and there was truly a diverse mix of professionals from all over the state. By meeting new people from the other regions, you are dramatically increasing your chances of meeting that one person who could potentially change your life. You could get a job offer, more business referrals, find partners to start a business, someone can warn you not to make the same mistake they made in - career, personal, and business decisions. This information being shared will foster lifelong friendships, partnerships, and business relationships. This is the main concept that we want our members and invited guest to understand.

THE TRUE POWER OF NETWORKING

We would love for you to join us on this journey as we strive to improve ourselves as well as our communities. With the direction that our inner-city youths are headed we have to give them alternatives and more positive reinforcement. If not, that next innocent bystander who is a victim could be our son, daughter or relative. The Urban Professionals Network will serve as a foundational structure for our youth to birth professionals, entrepreneurs, artist and activists. Finally, this organization will increase pride and opportunities in our communities and in the state of Connecticut.
